What I'm Reading

Middlemarch - George Eliot

A stunning epic tale which I finally read this spring. At first, I struggled with some of the sentence structure, but then reading became smooth sailing as the story took off.

It’s incredible to think that it was published in 1871 when George Eliot, aka Mary Ann Evans, wrote it out long hand.

The typewriter had been recently invented but I don’t think she used one.

The nuances of relationships and how the fates play out for the men and women in this village are beautifully described with great skill—this was pure pleasure.
