The only way to be a good writer is to be a good reader. Every day I attempt to be both. I enjoy reading books by authors who know how to create plot, dialogue and drama using beautiful sentences. As a writer, I want to keep the reader intrigued as I lay out the narrative journey. One of my current nonfiction favorites is The Outrun by Amy Liptrot. The story of a young woman getting sober while on an isolated island is original fascinating, but it’s Liptrot’s vivid, intense writing that makes the book so compelling.
